Is it recommended to touch-up my house instead of painting the whole house?

Having your own house is a great idea, but it can be challenging at the moment of painting and remodeling the house. Making changes into your house is important, your house needs maintenance and a new look every now and then.

Sometimes it might sound easier to just fix the bad spots or “touch-up” the interior and exterior paint, but this can lead to other consequences and bring more problems even though it sounds easier and the most flexible way.

Steps to follow at the moment of doing touch-ups and fixing your paint.

Paint starts changing and getting old, that is why there are some “steps” to follow at the moment of trying to fix or do touch-ups. The steps are the following:

  • Treating only certain areas or spots.

  • Treating the whole wall where you see the paint is showing its age.

  • Treat the whole exterior or interior area.

Pros and cons of touching up your paint.

There are always pros and cons when treating certain spots only, and it all depends on you. Here we are going to give you some pros and cons of repainting certain spots.

Pros:

  • Less money: It is clear that by only touching up a part of your wall you will spend less money on paint and you wouldn’t even have to pay a company to do it.

  • Less time: Clearly this is one of the fastest options to do, you will require less time to do this job.

  • Easy to do: We all want something easier and less complicated this is why some people would rather touch-up the specific spot.

Cons:

  • Stains: At the moment of touching up there could be a difference on the wall even if the paint is the same color.

  • Paint: As said before you could spend less money, but with the amount of paint you buy you could even paint the whole wall.

  • Coats: There could be a different and uneven number of coats on the wall which wouldn’t be good at all.

Our point of view:

It is clear that there are certain and equal differences and even similarities, but one of the main problems we notice at the moment of doing touch-ups is the difference in color. We recommend painting the area as a whole, this to prevent stains and differences between colors.

People often think there are low chances of getting your wall stained just because you are using the same specific color. The truth is that chances are high and due to the age and exposure the paint has had there’s always going to be a noticeable change.

In conclusion painting, the whole area could even save you more money because you wouldn’t have to re-invest when you find dark spots and stains. Painting the whole area is recommended.
